Brandon Phillips

Age: 38 Home Country (or state if US) of Origin: From Canada but dual citizen of U.S. Team: Postage Stamp Handicap: 5 How many years playing the sport: I started playing when I was 11 years old at the Toronto Polo Club. When I was 17 a family friend, Todd Offen, invited me to play in Florida with the 22-goal White Birch team of Peter, Mariano and Todd. I also played with the 26-goal White Birch team that year with Peter, Mariano and Adolfo Cambiaso in Florida before heading East to play the U.S. Open at Greenwich Polo Club and Bethpage. Pre-game ritual: I have a warm up ritual I do and I always put my left boot on first before my right boot. You travel around the world for polo. Which destination has been your favorite? I really enjoy playing in Florida but I also had a great time playing in South Africa. Favorite part of playing polo: The horses. Favorite local hang-out when playing at Greenwich Polo Club: It used to be The Red Store – but I will have to check out some new places since I haven’t been back to Greenwich in about 3 years. Favorite thing to do when not on the field: I like being healthy and going to the gym and playing hockey when I can. Favorite song: “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” by Mike Posner! If I weren’t a polo player I would be: Hockey player. Favorite all-time horse and why? Tatanka. She was one of the most powerful, handiest horses I have played with. She had it all. I played with her from 2002 until 2009. She died in my arms after an injury and I was glad that I was with her at that moment.
